Elizabeth Diaz spent most of her life traveling and living with her parents in South America and the Caribbean. One of Elizabeth's proudest achievements was in 2000, when she co-founded a nonprofit organization in the Dominican Republic. Her nonprofit worked to raise funds, organize and deliver aid, and lead community events. While she was in the classroom for four years, she also worked closely with the Dominican legislature to ensure that children without birth certificates had access to public education and government assistance. Elizabeth joined Teach for America in 2011. As an elementary teacher at Pulaski Elementary in Wilmington, Elizabeth built relationships with leadership at the state, district, and school level, key nonprofit foundations, and most importantly with her students and their families. Elizabeth collaborated closely with the schools that would be supporting her students towards successful citizenship, and secured scholarship funds for several of her students who were admitted into private school. As Managing Director, Teacher Leadership & Development, for Teach For America Delaware, Elizabeth leads her team to collaborate with school and district leadership in support of the professional development of 60 teachers in 24 schools across the state of Delaware. Elizabeth works closely with her team to build partnerships with principals and school leaders, teachers, parents, and students. All programming is devoted to three priorities Excellent Teaching, Relationships & Authenticity, and School Culture & Community. Elizabeth loves Sunday afternoon walks with her husband and two dogs, in their new Wilmington neighborhood.
