DE Nonprofits Head: Investment in our Work Pays Off

The impact of the nonprofit sector on Delaware’s economic health and quality of life, and the growing demand for their services, is significant as the State legislature considers its budget for the next fiscal year.  Just last week Sheila Bravo, President & CEO of the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement, highlighted what she calls “a partnership” between the nonprofit, for-profit and legislative communities, stating that they can all benefit from working together to strengthen and enhance Delaware’s position as an attractive place to live and work.

In her address to members of the Delaware Joint Finance Committee on February 23rd, Bravo cited concerns with diminishing sources of private funding – contributions that have not kept pace with the needs of those who count on the vital work of nonprofit agencies. As the legislature considers its budget for next year, Bravo asked elected officials to invest, rather than cut funding on the outcomes that matter.
